BUSINESS MEN’S ASSN.
IMPROVING ITS POSITION. There was a representative gathering of members of the Paeroa Busi • ness Men’s Association at the meeting held in the Coronation Chambers on Monday evening. Analogies for absence were received from Messrs D. Leach, D. McWatters, W. D Nicholas, A. E. Say, and D. Brown. Various items of business of a, routine nature were transacted. The secretary (Mr B. Stansfield) was complimented on the clear statement of the affairs of the association presented by him at the meeting. A sub-committee has been set, up to further the interests of the association in Paeroa, and a canvass is to be made of the town at an early date, with a view to enrolling more members and so strengthen the association. A sub-committee was also set up to approach the Borough Council with a view to hiring the Borough Chambers in which to hold future meetings. The calling of the next meeting was left in the hands of the sub-committee,, such meeting to be held within fifteen It is hoped that when the canvass for new members is made the business men of the town will lend their liberal support. As evinced at, Monday evening’s meeting, there is no doubt that such an association can be of inestimable benefit to the business people, and it is only by sticking together and supporting the executive that the objects of the association can be achieved.
