FOOTBALL.

PLAINS REREREES’ ASSOCIATION. The weekly meeting of the Hauraki Plains Referees’ Association was held in the Ngatea Hall on Monday evening. Present; Messrs G. T. Davidson (president), R. Phelan, E. McConnell, J. Reed,, W. G. Hayward, J. Costello, and F. Stretton. Mr W. G. Hayward was apopinted a member of the association. , In the referees’ reports of the senior matches mention was again made of the encroachment of spectators on the touch lines,, and it was recommended that the Union take action. The following referees were appointed for next Saturday’s matches: Mr F. Stretton, Ngatea v. Patetonga seniois, Mr J. Kidd juniors, at Patetonga. Mr J. Banks, Kerepeehi v. Turua seniors, Mr J. Reed, juniors, at Kerepeehi. Mr Davidson mbved that it be a recommendation to the Union that all players be numbered. He pointed out that the work of the referees would be greatly facilitated if this was doqe. Seconded by M|r Reed and carried. It was resolved that any member of the Referees’ Association who is present at a match should be askel to act as line umpire. It was decided to recommend tp the Union that official timekeepers be appointed, and that their names be mentioned on the list of players ; also that they be asked to use a bell. The discussion on the rules for the association was. held over until the next fleeting.
