A somewhat unusual application was read at,, the last meeting of the Kiwitea County Council from tihe secretary of a football club in the court* ty stating that the captain of the club, was now an employee of the council/ and requesting that, he be allowed a fu’l holiday every Saturday so that he could play. The councillor for the hiding (relates ' an exchange) said that this player was one ’of a gang, and if he were allowed the whole holiday ( it would mean holding up the gang. “As a councillor,” he said, “it is no good to me.”. Another councilloi said his oWn employee made. regular applications Tor days off to go«to. race meetings, “leaving-me to . milk the cows and attend to the farm. And one dav he told me I should not work so hard. I told him that if I did not keep-the farm going there, would be no work, for either of us-” It. was decided to inform the football club that the council would agree,to,relie.ve any employee for recreation, purposes pro-- ■ ■ vided an approved, substitute was found to' carry-.on the work. - j- In seeking to- enlighten the on “ What-is Unitarianism ?” the Rev.
