FOOTBALL.

PAEROA RUGBY UNION. COMMITTEE MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held on Tuesday last at 8 P.m. Present: Messrs J. Walmsley (chairman), W. Power, HM. Shand, T. P. Vuglar, W. Morrison, C. Pother, B. Neil, and the secretary. Apologies were received from Messrs G. Jenkinson and E. Moore. The East Club advised that the meeting called for the amalgamation of the East and Komata clubs had lapsed, but the Komata delegates, advised the meeting that an amicable arrangement had been agreed upon. The rounds as drawn up by the chairman and secretary were approved. Referees’ reports were received. The referee of the Komata v. Suburbs senior match reported having ordered two players off the field for tripping. It was decided that the referee’s action be approved, and that the punishment inflicted by the referee by putting both players on (the line would meet the case. G Poland was registered at, a third grade player for West Club. the applications of W. Nicholl and W. Thorburn for transfers to the West Club were referred, to Komata Club for their clearances. Accounts amounting to £2 18s were passed for payment,, and referees’ expenses to the amount of 10s were approved. NEXT SATURDAY’S FIXTURES. The following are the maltches and referees for next Saturday:— Senors. — Netherton v. KomataEast (R. B. Penlington),i at Paeroa. West v. Suburbs (A. Eklund), at Hikutaia. Juniors. —Suburbs v. Karangahake (E. Shaw), at Karangahake. West v. Netherton (E. Smith), at Netherton. Third Grade.—West v. KomataEast (B. Neil) at 1.45. at Tfauraki was held mNgatea on Tuesday evening. Mr R. E. Jamieson presided, and there were present: Messrs R. Phelan, E. McConnell, G. T. Davidson, A. Reed, T. McClean- J. Costello, D. Vincent, G. Porteous, and the secretary, J. Banks. The refereesL reports were read and received. Messrs J. Banks and E. McConnell were deputed to attend the next meeting of the Rugby Union. It was decided that • the rules of the Auckland, Referees’ Association be discussed at the next meeting, with a view to being adopted by the association. Mr T. McClean was admitted a member of the association. The following referees were appointed for next Saturday’s matches : Mr. F. Stretton, Ngatea v. Turua (seniors) ; Mr J. Kidd (juniors). Mr G. T. Davidson, Kerepeehi v. Waitakaruru (seniors), Mr R. Phelan (juniors). ; Mr R. E. Jamieson, who is leaving the district, tendered his resignatoin. Mr D. Vincent, in moving the acceptance, said that the association was losing a good man in Mr Jamieson. The association had nothing, but. praise for the way in which he. had supported the sporting spirit,. arid he had carried out the duties of president well and had put, the association on a .sound footing. ' Messrs Davidson,. Cosjtello, and Banks endorse Mr Vincent’s remarks,. and Mr Banks moved that it be placed on record the association’s appreciation of Mr Jamieson’s services. The motion was carried unanimously. On the motion -of Mr R. Phelan, seconded by Mr E. McConnell, Mr G. T. Davidson was unanimously appointed president of the association. Mr J. Reed was appointed vicepresident on the motion of Mr R. Phelan, seconded by Mi’ D. Vincent. "Many points in connection with the rules of the game were discussed.
