The manager reported for the month as follows : — The transformers that have been urgently required have now been landed in Auckland, and should be In operation now within the next three weeks. This should relieve the congestion with regard to overloading. The troubleman at Ngatea has been instructed tp be in Turua every Sunday previous to milking until such time as the high-tension phone and all-night connection is made at Turua and Ngatea, respectively. The Turua Ratepayers’ Association has ’’een advised of this arrangement. It is intended to open the Thames depot during May. This should assist a number of the Hauraki Plains consumers with regard to information and sunplies. The terms of control are very satisfactory. The liinstol was compelled to undergo a survey in Auckland after discharging at Kopu, but I have been advised that she.left for Newcastle on April 27. I am writing Mr Brown asking him to expedite despatch from Newcastle. On April 19 the 50,009-volt line from Horahora to Waikino developed a fault, and power was off from 6.30 p.m. on Thursday until 4 p.m. on Saturday The Board’s 11,000-volt line from Horahora to Waitoa was fortunately made alive on An ,- il 4, and this feeder supplied right through jo Paeroa. The benefit of this connection was of great service. Without this line a great number of consum-. ers would have been without power. The Ttiranga-o-moana-Wardville, line is now being expedited. The in-: sulator stems for same have now arriveri. Upon the completion of this, line the Board will be quite safeguarded in the event of any fault oh the 50,000-volt line, owing to having then two separate feeds direct from Horahora independent, of the Public Works Department line. The only interruption caused during the gale was owing to trees falling across lines in the Tatuanui district. These were cleared and lines repaired immediately. I have instructed the foreman in every district to go into the matter of trees on the roads that are dangerous to the lines, and seven days’ notices will be served in order to prevent repetitions. Troublemen have been instructed to patrol lines during inclement weather. and also immediately after same.
