The Post and Telegraph Department has had in mind for some time the question of providing continuous telephonic communication between the principal towns of the North Island. As a further step towards this arrangements are nearly completed (states the “Taranaki Daily News”) to give communication between New Plymouth and Auckland throughout the 24 hours of the day, and within the next few days New Plymouth subscribers will be able to speak to subscribers in the Aucklaim district. Tn addition to this the subscribers to exchanges between Taumarunui and Paeroa will be granted facilities to converse with Taranaki subscribers, which should prove of considerable benefit, not only to the community, but to the public as a whole.
