The meeting of the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce called for last evening was adjourned until to-night in order to allow the members an opportunity of hearing the delegation speaking in opposition to the Thames Harbour Board loan at the Central Theatre. The halfhholiday question is a matter set down for discussion this evening.
That if the Thames harbour scheme were carried it would delay the construction of the Paeroa-Pokeno railway, was the claim of one speaker at the meeting of objectors last evening.
At the inquest on Tuesday Dr. Smith severely criticised the conditions prevailing at the morgue, and subsequently the jury handed on a recommendation to the authorities that proper conveniences be supplied and that the morgue be adequately fitted.
Mr D. G. McMillan, who has been nominated for a seat pn the Thames Harbour Board, notifies that he is opposed to the present loan proposals. He asks for the support of eleetprs for Mr Laughlin, who is also opposed to the scheme.
There will be no municipal elections in Paeroa this year. Mr W. Marshall has been elected unopposed as Mayci, and only eight nominations have been received for the eight seats oil the Council. Mr, D. Leach did not seek re-election, but Mr H. M. Shand filled the vacancy. Mr P. E. Brenan was elected unopposed for the representative on the Thames Hospital Board, and Mr F. El Flatt to the seat on the Thames Valley Electric Power Board.
“The N.Z. Cp-operative Dairy Co. had stated at, the Royal Commission that they would require two regular clearances a week at Thames before they would consider sending their output through that port," said Mr Cargill a,t the meeting of objectors to the Thames harbour scheme. “It was the regularity of the supply of Danish butter that commanded the high price more than the quality.”
Members of the Thames Harbour Board delegation will address ratepayers at Kopuarahi, Orongo, Ngatea, and Thames. The dates for the meetings are advertised.

Tn our issue of April 16 it was stated that 68,2791 b of cream had been railed from Waihi Plains during the flush mouths of December, January, and February. It should have read 68 2891 b of butter-fat, not cream, as was published.
