TURUA RATEPAYERS.

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The regular meeting of the Turin Ratepayers’ Association was held in the Turua Buildings on Friday. Mr D. G. McMillan presided over an attendance of 12 members.

COST OF MOTORS. lb; Netherton Association wrote concerning the cost of rioters; 1 Mr Madgwick said nc had interviewed the chairman c>’ the Power Board, who had agreed to reduce-the price of motors from £4O 10s to £3O. He thought that Turua people should get a reduction in the cost of the motor wheiVit was installed. Neth ertoit motors were-installed in November and Huirau Road and Turua motors in February and March. Mr McMillan said that, all the motors were purchased at the same time, a- d the fact, was that son e were linked up earlier than others, and the complaint was that the same price should have been charged for ah motors. The power Board had made a profit of £12,000 on its operatic.’.s to dat,e. Mr Madgwick said that what Netherton was concerned about was the fa< t that £12,000 profit had been made and some people were getting a benefit from this. Mr Baker said that Netherton motor® were installed during the seisjn and Turua motors at the end of the season,, when they were not reqniied so much. Mt Luke moved,, and Mr Baker seconded that no action be taken. m/ Madgwick said that the Association should support the Netherton association in its efforts to get some reduction, and moved in that direction. -Mr McMillan seconded the amendment, to test t.hc feeling of the meeting. On the amendment being put it was lost and the motion was later carried. STOCK INSPECTOR’S TELEPHONE. The Department of Agriculture, Wellington, wrote stating that the request of the association that a telephone be installed at the residence of the inspector of stock, Thames, could not be agreed to owing to the question of finance. Mr McMillan moved, and Mr Sutton seconded, that a letter should l.c written to the Minister of Agriculit.ure and forwarded through Mr Rhodes, M.P.
