' WEST CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the West. Football Club was held in the Fire Brigade Station on Thursday evening, when a large attendance of members.; was present. Mr E. Edwards piesided over the gathering. The report and balance sheet, which was adopted, disclosed a credit balance of £lO 6s 4d. The chairman congratulated the club on its very sound financial position. ELECTION OF OFFICERS The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:— Patron. Mr R. W. Evans; president, Mr E. Edwards; vice-presidents, Mesdamds G. A. Bush and E. Edwards, Messrs C. Short, J. Roach, F. J. Wells, J. McClinchy, S< J. Hedge, W. H. Taylor, H. M. Shand, B. Neil, Gorden, R. Chamberlain. J. Walmsley, G. Jenkinson, H. E. Butler, J. W. Silcock, with power to add; committee, Messrs J. Walmsley, R. Chamber lain, W. Taylor, V. Sherson, H. Shand, B Neil, C.. Rolton, J. Verran, G. Jenkinson ..and the secretary; delegates to the Paeroa Rugby Union, Messrs H. M Shand, G. Jenkinson, J. Walmsley, W. Taylor, B. Neil and the secretary. Mr J„ Coburn notified that for business reasons he was unable to cany out the duties of secretary and treasurer to the club this year. After some discussion it was decided that the appointment of a secretary and treasurer should be held over meantime, Mr Coburn consenting to fill the position until a successor could be appointed. INSURANCE. Mr Jenkinsofi asked why, the football insurance, scheme had been dropped in Paeroa. y Mr Coburn explained that .the basis of premiums—9d a week —was insufficient to maintain a policy of adequate protection. He suggested that players would be better advised to take but policies individually with bona fide insurance companies. After discussion it was decided that the committee should take the matter up with the different insurance companies and report to a later meeting. GENERAL.' * It was decided to play in the same colours as in previous years, black and white, and the subscriptions for the different grades to be senior and junior memebrs 5s and third grade players 2s 6d. The president offered a medal to be awarded to the best senior back, Mr G. Jenkinson one for the best senicr forward, and Mr W. L. Lawrence one to the best third grade forward. .Several new members were elected. As the prospects were very bright for the club for the coming season it was decided to enter three teams in the competitions this year. It was decided to get on with practice right away, the secretary to endeavour to arrange a match, against the Te Aroha Rovers at Te Aroha on Saturday next, • _ - It was decided to hold a number of dahces during the winter. The following were elected a dan.ee comimttee : Messrs Shaw, Poland,’Neil, Taylor, Ellis, and Nelson. The meeting decided that it be a recon?.menda.tion to the Paeroa Rugby Union that the cricket pitch, in the domain should be turfed prior to the opening of the season. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the retiring secretary, Mr J- H. Coburn, for his painstaking efforts in successfully carrying out his last year. . Votes of thanks were also accorded the donors of tropljies, the vice-presi-dents, and supporters of the club. Mr and Mrs J. Roach, who are leaving the district, were accorded a special vote °? thanks for their untiring efforts and never-failing support to the club.
