FOOTBALL.

TURUA CLUB. GENERAL MEETING. A. general meeting of the Turua Football Club was held in the Turua Buildings on Wednesday last. Mr G. E. Porteous presided over a large attendance. The chairman reported on the business done at a meeting pf the H’aiiraki Plains Rugby Union. It was decided that the union oe asked to reconsider its proposal that the junior and tfie senior teams i>lay matches at the same time and plac°. With regard to meeting Waitakaruru half-way, it was decided that all matches should be playe-i on the home grounds. The secretary was instructed to procure goal-posts. ~Mr Proteous offer-' ed to pay for same. The following matches for Saturday ;were arranged Married v. Single, ■two spells of 20 minutes each ; then an “A” and “B” match of two spells of 20 minutes each. The first match to commence at 1.30 pan. sharp. ■ Mr Bellbue offered to donate 10 line pegs. A vote of thanks to Mr Porteous and Mr Bellbue for their was carried. The matter pf insurance of players was deferred till the next meeting. The secretary was instructed to notify Orongo players of the time of commencement of matches. Hr F. Stephens was appointed referee for the “A” and “B” match, and Mr L. James for the Married v. Single match. Forty-five members have been enrol’ed to date. .

NGATEA.

/ BENEFIT MATCH. At Ngatea a benefit match, Married v. Single, in aid of injured players, was held. After a real good' game, in which such old players as Davidson, Schultz, Harper, and’ Costello were conspicuous, the single men won by 9 to 8.

WAITAKARURU.

FOOTBALL PRACTICE. A practice match to enable the selectors to see the players in action was held at Waitakaruru on Saturday. Eleven of the probable seniors played against and beat about two dozen probable juniors.
