FOOTBALL.
NGATEA CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Ngatea Football Club was held on Thursday last. Mr D. Vincent presided over an attendance of over 40 members and supporters. THE BALANCE-SHEET. The balance-sheet for the year showed a credit'balance of £22 16s Bd, compared with a credit of £4 Is 7d at the beginnings of the season. This was chiefly due to the amount raised by holding dances. OFFICERS. The following officers were appointed for the year : Patron, Mr J. Costello ; president, Mr W. G. Hayward ; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Douglas,, G. Harper, G. Buswell, G. Phillips, J. Terrill, A- R- Vowles, H. Dent, G. Perry, S. Phelps, E. Falton, G. T. Davidson, J. Banks, A. Montgomery, H. Regastjck, M. Roglish, and M. Grbick ; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. G. Mellor ; committee, Messrs- R. McConnell, C. Hobin, S. Phillips, G. Elvidge, C. Harper, H. Shaw,._R. E. Jamieson, D. Vincent, and C. G. Mellor ; selectors, Mr A. Vowles (senior team), and Mr A. McConnell (junior tedm) ; delegates to Hauraki Plains Rugby Union, J. Cosltello and D. Vincent ; dance committee, Messrs W. Hutchinson, A. McConnell, S. Phillips, J. Basks, and S. Bradley. It was decided that, the subscriptions be the same as the - previous year, and that the club colours be the same. : The matter of travelling expenses was discussed,/ but no finality was reached. The secretary was instructed to ascertain rates of insurance and benefits fr,om various insurance panies. It was decided to supply refreshments to teams visiting Ngatea, and after much discussion on ways and means it was left to the committee to dear with. It was decided that the selectors publish the names.of players by the Monday preceding \he match, and that should any player be unable to play he must notify the x selector by Wednesday. Should a player be unable to play oh two occasions when picked he shall not again be eligible for selection. Mr C. Harper was appointed coach for the senior team and Messrs Elvidge and Phelan for the juniors. ! A practice match will be played on Saturday, March 24, between teams chosen by the seletcors. Mr D. Vincent presented Mr F. Nicol with a gold medal donated by himself for. the best all-round player of last season. DONATIONS. Mr H. A. Shaw promised to donate a medal for the best all-round player. Mr S. Bradley promised a medal to the junior player showing the most improvement during the season. In each case the selectors are to be the judges. Votes of thanks to Mr Shaw and Mr Bradley for donating medals, to Mr Hayward for granting the use of his paddock, and to the chairman and secretary for their services during the last season were carried by acclamation. A meeting of the new committee was held immediately after the general meeting. Mr D. Vincent was appointed chairman. It was decided that the appointment of referees be deferred until the next meeting, which is to be held in the hall on the 19th inst.
