NGATEA. DANCE. A most successful evening’s entertainment and dance was held at Ngatea. .on Show night. After a splendid picture programme, iiiterpersed with vocal items by Miss M. Norris and “ the two Bobs ” (Messrs C. Hobi.u and C. Mellor), dancing was engaged in till ap early hour. The ,h;all was brilliantly lighted by electricity, the floor was like glass, the music by Henderson’s orchestra was all that could be wished, and a'delightful supper was handed round.' Songs were rendered by Mr D. Hibbs and Mr R Turnbull A waltzing competition for a prize donated by Mr R. Turnbull was won by Miss I. McKay, and Mi J. Morris. About sixty couples were present.. Mr A. McConnell was. M.C. The whole of the arrangments were in the hands of Mr “A. Hamilton, of the Capitol Pictures, who donated the proceeds—about £16 —to the hall funds for the purpose of installing electric light.

KEREPEEHI. DAIRY FARMERS’ UNION. A meeting of the Kerepeehi branch of the Dairy Farmers’ Union was held •luring the week-end at the residence of the p csident, Mr J. H. Nicholson. A letter was received from the provincial executive seeking, the opinion of the branch on several matters. These were discuss?' 1 at length, and a resolution embracing the following items was passed: Dairy control should be by the mutual consent of a committee consisting of pi cancers, merchants, shipper.’,, and bankers. Tie Mmatoriupi Act should be expended to include all moil-gages up to date. The elimination of cull cows and bulls, and uhivers'il herd-testing should be enforced by legislation. The J;'.con industry should be controlled by the Meat Board. Roads and railways should be laid down before land is opened up for settlement. Tlie establishment of a labour bureau by tlie head oilice was not approved of. In regard to organisation, the Farmers' Union had submitted proposals to tine Dairy Farmers’ Union, who suggested amendments to each clause. These amendments werp approved by the branch.
