A meeting of the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce .will be held at 8 p.m. tomorrow. Several matters of importance will come up for discussion, and it is, therefore, hoped that there will be a representative meeting. At Saturday evening’s meeting of the Nethertpn Ratepayers’ Association a motion was carried urging all Crown tenants to support the candidature of Mr W. -G. Hayward for a seat on the South Auckland Land Board. Prices obtained/ for sheep are rapidly soaring. Alt a recent, sale held at Waingaro, old f..m. ewes realised 28s, culls 245, and 2-tooth 325. The auctioneer, who has been wielding the hammer for over 20 years said the sale was the finest he had seen during that period. Owing to the high prices would-be buyers fqom the Thames Valley returned without making any purchases. Ngatea has the honour of being the first place on the Hauraki Plains co be lighted by street lamps. As a result of action taken by seme of the public-spirited men these ware recently installed by the Power Board and switched on for the first time on Show Night. One hundred candlepower lights have been spaced at in tervals in the business portion of the township, and can be seen from many parts of the Plains.
