HIKUTAIA CLUB.
(To the Editor.) gir ; —As one fortunate enough to be present nt the christening ceremony at Hikutaia on Saturday last, may I ■say that the South Auckland bowling centre is to be congratulated on the birth of the new baby bowling clubThough there .were signs that the infant is to be brought up on the bottle, there is no doubt that the youngster is thriving, for did I not hear that even before the christening it had gone forth to the Thames tournament to de battle against its grown-up sister clubs. From the general appearance of the grounds, replete in all the appointments seldom seen on any one green, it is apparent that the kid was born with a silver spoon in its mouth (or was it a gold nugget ?)• There is no doubt that ,the little one is going to be very popular, for I •heard many promises from its elder sister clubs, even from those who are supposed to be weaned, to come and see it as often as possible. That the future of the club will be bright, prosperous, and successful was the sincerest wish of all those whose good fortune took them to Hikutaia on Saturday.—l am, etc., GROWN-UP.
