BOWLING, TENNIS, AND CROQUET. . At a meeting of the executive committee of the Hikutaia Bowling, Tennis, ami Croquet Club held last week, Mr W. H. Alley presiding, it was decided to allow boys and girls ' the use of the tennis courts at an j annual fee of 7s 6d and ss, respective- , ly, such junior members, however, to vacate the courts when they were required by the senior players. It was decided that the grounds should be cleared and the pavilion painted. It was also resolved to give the tennis courts another coating of restar and fine sand as soon as possible. and to insta] the pump and engine which had come to hand. As ■ money is urgently required the treasurer stated that he would be glad to receive all unpaid membership subscriptions. FARMING. Owing to the continuous wet weather several belated hay crops still remain unharvested, though most of it is now stored in the various barns or in the stack. Several fine clover crops, all in the pink of condition, remain uncut. ROADS,. The roads in the district are ip a bad way, the worst, and it is really shocking, being the Thames road. How long will it be before something is done to remedy the existing state of things ? This road will soon have as evil a reputation as the one over the Rangiri/i hills, of which -so much is written in dispraise.
