WA.IHI TAURANGA SECTION. CONTRACT TO BE LET. ‘ “By direction of the Minister ol Public Works, I have to advise you (wrote Mr W. F. Furketrt, Under-Sec-retary to the Public Works Department, in a letter to the Bay off Plenty Development League) that every effort is being made t,o expedite the completion of plans for the portion of the railway still untouched between Waihi and Tauranga. You will realise that for a contract involving some hundreds of thousands of pounds a great deal of information must he provided for the contractor. The matter is being hurried on as’ much as possible.
“A considerable numbar of plans are already lithographed, and immediately they are all to hand and the contract documents prepared, the same will be advertised. It is difficult to give an exact date, but I should say that it should be withm two ar three months.”
