BOXING.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Pray excuse me “butting in” upon you in this fashion, but, having a grievance, and the time opportune, I decided to enlist, your sympathy and co-operation in a matter which, seemingly, is perhaps trivial, but which, if not strangled at birth, will soon assume the shape of; a bogey in the eyes of all amateur boxers'. Some time ago I fought and won a decision under the auspices of the Hamilton Boxing Association, but. to date, despite frequent entreaties for some little remuneration, have received nothing. Now, I ask you, Mr Editor, if this sort of treatment is going to make for the good of the game? There isn’t much inducement for the amateur to take a glove at any time —still less is thdi’e when associations' like Hamilton treat guarantees in this manner. Whether this combination of generous, fair-minded sports.men has a monopoly of the “breach of promise stuff” I cannot say. For the game’s sake I sincerely hope it has',’ and for the benefit of all aspiring “stoush" artists I repeat—’ware Hamilton. —I am, etc., C. CROMWELL, Nethertpn.
