CARE OF POULTRY.

HEAT AND EXERCISE. It is not generally irccogniscd that poultry feel .the heat equally as much as human beings do. They lose their appetite, lose their energy, and instead of scratching busily about the run, keeping themselves fit, idle around in any shady spot they can find. Now, the laying fowl is always a busy fowl .'lf she isn’t always fit enough, and keen enough; to be pecking about for any odds and ends that are tp be had for .the searching, you can reckon that she isn’t going to show any real interest in the egg production business. Moral : Keep her fit, busy, and keen. How ? First see that instead of the warming food you fed th,e fowls in winter and during those cold days of spring, you give something more tempting to a heat-jaded appetite. / PLENTY OF AIR 1 . No not be afraid to give plenty of air in the sleeping quarters at this time of the year, for growing stock as well as for adults. Some people make a point of shutting up shutters at night, in summer as well as in winter; but this i:s r unnecessary, and even harmful, except on cold,, wet nights, when the birds might be exposed to wet and rain. They will re much moire healthy and keep in better productive condition if they are accustomed to sleeping under fresh air conditions.
