Mr P. C. Furley, former Town Clerk of Paeroa, and Mrs Furley leave for Birkenhead on Friday. Bro. V. Carrick has been elected Noble Grand Master of the Loyal Jubilee Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.u. Messrs J. Walmsley and H. M. Shand' were on Monday elected President and Captain, respectively, of the Paeroa Cricket Club. Mr W. Duristerville, formerly of the Christchurch. Press has been appointed editor of the “New Zealand Farmer,” Auckland. Mr J. L. Morris, the Government stock instructor in charge of the Waikato and Piako counties, has been transferred to Cambridge, of which district he will take charge. Mr F. Irlam Ellis, M.N.S. C.E.: M.1.5.E., .who has’ been engaged to assist the Tauraki Plains County Council’s engineer (Mr J. Higgins), formerly served in the Public Works Department, and has had a wide and varied experience that should prove valuable in furtherance of the work*' that are being undertaken by the council. Mr O. L. Kidsoh, who was recently transferred to Paeiroa from the clerical staff of the Railway Department at Mercer was tendered a farewell dance prior to his departure and presented with an oak 8-day clock as a token of the regard in which he was held by his many friends in Mercer, Mr Kidson was an enthusiastic member of .the Mercer Tennis Club. Mr W. T. Thompson, a Government orchard instructor, who died at Auckland on Monday from heart failure, was well known throughout this district, and highly respected by everyone with whom he came in contactBeing a keen bowling enthusiast, and having a exceptionally sociable disposiiton, the late Mr Thompson made very many friends in the Thames Valley during the years that he had been visiting the district, and many will miss him.
