In answer to a question put at Saturday night’s meeting pf the Netherton Rateapyers’ Association Cr. Chatfield said he understood the amount taken from general rates to pay for machinery would not be refunded, when .the £10,60'0 was raised, but, was going to pay the antecedent liability. —Mr J. A. Reid asked if that was hardly fain.—Cr. Hare said he thought the amount involved was about £Boo.—Mr H. R. Heappey said he did not consider it a fair proposition.
