PERSONAL.

Mr A. J. Sinclair, assistant manager of the N.Z. Dairy Co., was in Paerpa on Friday. Master George Errol Taylor, of the Paeroa Distirct High School, secured a pass (with 530 marks) at the Junior National Scholarships examinations held in November-December.

An old and respected resident of Paerpa, in the person of Mr A. Tetley, J.P., died at .the Thames. Hospital on Friday in his 50th year. Born near Bradford, Yorkshire, England, the deceased gentleman came to New Zealand when a boy, settling in Paeroa, where lie resided up to the time of his removal to the hospital. The late Mr Tetley had been in ill-health for very many years, but bore his suffering with great fortitude. As one of the pioneers of the Paeroa Methodist Church, he did work o!f. value to the whole community. The deceased was a staunch membet* of the Oddfellows Lodge, and had many friends throughout the district. The funeral, which took place oii Saturday at the Paeroa Cemetery, was attended by a large gathering of mourners, including representatives of .the Oddfellows, members of the Chamber of Commerce and Borough Council, and others. The Oddfellows funeral service at the graveside was read by Noble Grand. Bro. V. Carrick.
