In reply to an inquiry as to why the Sistine Choir had omitted to give a performance at. Paeroa, Mr H. B. Woods, of the Central Theatre, has received a tetter from the manager expressing regret that the choir .had been unable at present to play at Paeroa, and stating that there may be a* possibility of the choir appearing here at a later date.

Continuous increase of business has compelled Mr R. Corringham to seek larger premises. He has therefore removed to the building formerly occupied by Mr D. A'- Vincent, Normanby Road, where he has opened up with exceptionally complete stocks of household furniture. In addition Mr Corringham, who has just secured the agency for the E. and F. Mr P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, who had been presiding at a sitting of the Conciliation Council at Waihi in connection with the mine engine-drivers’ dispute passed through Paeroa this mbyning en route to Auckland. On several occasions when Mr Hally has publicly beeij congratulated on his work as Conciliation Commissioner it has been, said that he has settled more industrial disputes than any other man in Australasia. His successful efforts in connection with the miners’ strike in Waihi are well remembered in this district.

This is the finest specimen of photographic work that has ever been published by any paper in the Southern Hemisphere, and is another instance of the resolution of the proprietors to set up new standards. The Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting is given significance in a comprehensive series, of snapshots showing stirring stages of the racesband the Manawatu meeting is represented in photographs of tlie appointments, the crowds, and principal events.
