BOWLING.
LOSS OF “STABS.” DECISION IN LAST HEAD. The much sought after Goldfields Challenge Stars, which were recently won from Matamata, by a team from ■the local club, were once again lost to Paeroa on Saturday, Thames proving too good. The Thames team comprised Pratt, Whitehead, Newman, and Adamson (skip), and Paeroa was represented by Busby, Garry, Pinder, and Wells (skip). The scores, 22-19, do not give any true indication of th 4 game. It was one of the most exciting displays of bowls seep on the Ipcal rinks for a long time. At the 20th head Thames lay 3 UP, and at the 21st the skips went down to play, Paeroa lying three up. On this final head Adamson’s first bowl went past, and Wells, in playing his first, -knocked another, Paeroa bowl up, leaving them lying in a fairly snug positoin, four up. With his last bowl Adamson drew the shot with a beautiful bowl, which Wells with h'S next bowl failed to take out, just grazing the shot bowl without doing any damage, thus leaving Thames the victors-
