If Easter Monday or a near date is not granted races may not. be held till next Christmas. It was decided to communicate with the Paeroa, Thames, and Te Aroha racing dubs to ask their assistance to get a license granted. KEREPEEHI SPORTS CLUB. At the conclusion of the Racing Ciub meeting held at Kerepeehi dur-.»-.g the week-end 'he members of the < ommittee, who are also members of the executive of tae Sjorts Club, drew up a programme for Easter Monday, provided a racing permit is no<, granted for that date. The programme includes the following horse even.ts: Relay, Flag, Rescue, Stockmen’s, Farmers’, and Donkey races,' Best Jumping Horse, Best High Jump. ,■ z ■ several chopping events are included. PAEROA RAILWAY FATALITY. Quite a gloom was cast over the community when it became known in Kerepeehi that the lad who had been killed at Paeroa was' Roy Thompson, of the Lands Department. Thompson, who v, as only 16 years and 7 months old, and who was tp sit for a survey examination in March next, was veiy much liked and highly spoken of by the people of Kerepeehi. He was of a cheery disposition and a keen and encrgciic worker. BUILDING ACTIVITY. Considerable building activity i=> noticeable at Kerepeehi. At the piesent. time two cottages, a hoardingiiouse, and a blacksmith's shop aie under course of erection.

NGATEA. RESUMPTION OF WORK. Now that the holidays are over work on the Lands Department and the Power Board is’ recommencing in Electric power will be available at the Ngatea butter factorv within a day or two. We understand that about- 75h.p. will be utalised at this factory, chiefly to drive a new refrigerating plant and a large Silkcborg churn. NGATEA FACTORY RETURNS. During the month of December 212 tons, or 8480 boxes, of butter were manufactured at the Ngatea factory. This is an increase of fifty-two tons over a cpi responding period of last year, and is attributed not so much to a slight increase in area, but to the fact that within the area there T'e now more cows, and better cows, and less ground is being used for fattening purposes. It is pleasing to note that during the month the average grade was 93.58, and that there was no second-grade buttei. One shipment of 800-odd boxes scored as nigh as 95.5. This upsets the oil idea that it is not possible to get good flavoured butter from the Hauraki Plains. -
