ACCIDENT ON PLAINS
* MOTOR CAR CAPSIZES. OCCUPANTS SERIOUSLY INJURED ■ What at first appeared to be a fatal motor car accident, occulrred about It a.m. oir Saturday morning about two miles from Waitakaruru on the main Paeroa-Auckland road. Mr Kelvin Cuff, of Manukau Road, Epsom, and Miss Given Smith, of Mt. Maunganui, Tauranga, were apparently proceeding from Auckland to Tauranga, and when near Mr French’s property the car became unmanageable, -swerving from one side of the road to the other, throwing the occupants out, and finally coming to rest on its side in a drain. The injured people were reproved to the home of M>- H. L. Berney, where they received every care until the arrival of Dr. Liggins- from Thames. The Thames .ambulance was called, but i.t .was after six o’clock when it arrived. Both victims were seriously injured. The car, a two-seater Fiat, is practically a new ca|r, having done only 290 miles. It was' badly damaged, the i front portion of the body being splintered, the radiator crushed, into the all the mudguards broken, jtwo of the wheels buckled and the j front axle bent.
