“AUSSIE.”
, THE CHRISTMAS ISSUE. The Cihi’istmas' issue of “Aussie” is a specially fine numbell’. It is full of Christmas humour and spirit, maintained through 93 pages, and contains one of the best stories that has come from the pen of Henry Lawson —specially written for “Aussie.” There arc over 100 illustrations by over 50 Australasian artists, together with dozens of stories, articles, sketches, verses, and pars by numerous waiters. Two. pictures by Russom are particularly striking. One is a double-page bush Christmas dinner scene—,a typical, country family enjoying the feast of the year. It is full of the joy and sunlight of tlbe bush. The other is a single-page picture of two waggonmen taking their dinner by the roadside, with, the inevitable dog sharing the windfalls from generous donors. Excellent art is provided by Noel Cook aiid Dick Horo, two very promising artists, and G. K. Townsend has a drawing of .remarkable merit.. The stagery and book sections’ are. also good features in the Christmas number of “Aussie.” The issue contains more Australasian art and humour than has ever before been collected between two covers.
