An appreciation of the enthusiasm of some of the exhibitors at the Hauraki A. and P. Association’s show this week was made by Mr Parkinson, judge of the Friesian cattle. ThJlough the entries were not as numerous as when he was judging in Paeroa three years ago the quality, he said, had shown a distinct improvement. /

Miss Muriel Taylor, pupil of Miss A. It was not a circus,. but the grand parade at the show yesterday was not entirely devoid of incidents such as one sees in the sawdust ring. A Jersey heifer calf, wearing a red ribbon for a first prize, and kd by a. small l»y, became unruly, b'lroke away from its young master, and careered across the show ring. It was cornered among the hurdles in the centre, and the leading rope was handed to the boy in charge, but the young animal was not to be Weld. It proved too strong for the boy, and, breaking into a run, dragged the little fellow to the ground. Quite a number .of youngsters! then joined in the chase, and when the little animal was recaptured throe boys took charge, two holding the loading rope, while one gripped its tail, urging it on when it refused to move. Thus the unruly little animal rejoined the grand parade.

This week’s issue of the “N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic Review” is of outstanding pictorial vailue, embracing as it does a wide variety off interesting subjects most artistically arranged. A wide and interesting variety of overseas photographs' are also included.

At the show smoke concert last evening feeling references were made to the untiring efforts .and great help rendered to the association by the late Mr A. E. Fielder, and a vote of. condolence and sympathy was passed to the widow and relatives, the motion being carried in silence. The induction of the Rev. A little mild excitement was cans ed in a horse enclosure outside the show ring at the Hauraki A. and P. show yesterday. A horse had evidently been frightened at something, for it commenced plunging round the enclosure, and for a moment it appeared that some of the onlookers we' - e in danger of being hit with the animal’s boofis. The horse, however, was taken in hand by its attendant; and the excitement subsided. As a Mr Williams’, of Netherton, was driving along Willson’s Road on his way to the show on Wednesday morning the horse he' was driving stepped into one of the ppt-holes and broke its (fetlock. The occupants of the sulky were not hurt, but it is understood tihat the horse had to be destroyed.
