Thomas Meighan will feature in “White and Unmarried,” and a six-act Sunshine “Skirts,” which is said to be one of the funniest comedies yet presented to a Paeroa audience. There are to be seen train wrecks, airplane stunts, ripping, tearing tornadoes, auto escapades—all merged, with ,a background of three' thousand of America’s loveliest girls. the ■factors which stamp this Fox picture as the most noteworthy offering of the year. CAPITOL PICTURES. NGATEA PUBLIC HALL. * FRIDAY NIGHT. ~ “BARS OF IRON.” Ethel M. Dell’s popular novel, “Bars of Iron,” will be screened in the Ngatea Public Hall on Friday next. The story is a particularly strong one, and in brief is as follows' : Avery Denys’ brief married life in Australia ended in miserable failure. Eric, her husband, ruined, sent |her back to England until he got on his feet. In six months he had degenerated into a ruthless bully, and one night forced Piers Eversham to fight with ihim. He was killed in the struggle and Piers fled to England, joining his grandfather, Sir Beverley Eversham, at Rodding Abbey. Avery had come to that village and taken up the position of mother’s .help at the vicarage. Piers fell in Hove with her, as did also Dr. Tudor, but Avery’s experience of marriage did not en-.. courage a. second trial, and she refused both men. Sir Beverley met with a fatal accident and, before dying, made Avery promise to marry Piers. The young man, however, discovered that the man killed in fai? fight in Australia was Avery’s husband. The knowledge tortured .him. Finding Piers distracted, Avery, misitaking the cause, remembered her promise to the dead baronet and pressed Piers ’to marry her. He did, and hid the fact tlhat he killed her husband, which was later revealed by Dixon, a social outcast, who returned to England and told the story. Husband and wife were on the point of separating when Dr. Tudor forced Dixon to tell the truth: concerning the fight. .
