Th® general meeting of the Tennis Club to be held to-morrow night should prove a landmark in the his'tory of the club. The question as to Whether the club shall form courts of its own is to be submitted to the members. .Mr 'Bernard Stansfield, auctioneer, Paeroa, is holding a special poultry sale on,- Friday, December 22, and invites farmers, to bring along their fowls, ducks, geese, turkeys, etc. By-’advertisement in Uhls issue it will be seen that the Misses Smales and Lipsey are holding a grand dance recital in the Theatre Royal, Te Aroha, tp-morrow night. Several of their Paeroa pupils are taking part, also pupils from Cambridge and Mor rinsville, and an enjoyable entertainment is assured. An advertisement of special interest to dairy farmers appears in this issue relating to “hayward’s” Utility Milking Cup. We have in pur midst a "Lamb King” in the person of John Walls, butcher- Yesterday he purchased all the lambs offered at Hikutaia sale, and is now in a position to supply tine whole town, if necessary,- with., lamb for Christmas and New Year., The quality is right, and Mr Walls has, mark you, got good value, which be intends to give to his many customers and all who want prime lamb for, the festive season.* Tn connection with the drainage of the Hauraki Plains, Mr J. B. Thompson. Undersecretary for Lands, .advised the Hauraki Plains County Council as follows : “ I am directed by the Hon. Minister for Lands to acknowledge the receipt of your- letter of November 18, asking that the Land Drainage Engineers of this department might be instructed to concentrate their efforts on the lowering of the water in the Piako River and on the construction of the Mauko.roWaitakar,uru Canal, and say that your Council’s representation will receive due consideration.”
