CONCERT AT NGATEA.
ELECTION RESULTS SCREENED. Over 300 people attended a concei t and dance in the Ngatea Public Hall last evening, when the election results were screened as they came to hand. The large number of visitors included representatives from Turua, Netherton, Kerepee'hi, Kopuarahi, Waitakariiru, Patetonga, Kaihere, Pipiroa, and even .from Paeroa and Thames. The hall was packed by 8.30 p.m., bu which time a good concert programme was well on the way. From the announcement of the first .result shortly after, 8 p.m. the concert patrpnst were kept in a state of expectancy and showed great interest, especially, in the announcements ofthe liquor poll results. The returns came through quickly for a time, but towards midnight difficulty was experienced in getting into touch with the centres. Few results came, via Thames, the majority being obtained from Paeroa. The concert programme was contributed to by the following:—Misses Costello (2), Messrs Titchener, Powley, Cassin (Turua) , Bi’oyd (Paeroa), Hobin, (Reidy (Kaihere), Kennedy and Shultz. Theaccompanists ,-were Miss R. Hilford and Mrs Hendren. The dance music was contributed by Henderson's orchestra. Messrs 8. Bradley and S.. Phillips wore M.Cs. A good supper was' provided. The proceeds of the entertainment are to be devoted to the Ngatea Public Library, for which purpose about £l2 or £1.5 should be available.
