Mr A. J- Sinclair, assistant manager of the N.Z. Co-operative Dairy Company, is meeting the Ngatea factoi’y suppliers’ committee to-day. “Owing to the seamen refusing io work under the new Arbitration Court award, which came into force on November 18, crews have left the vessels. The s.s. Gael is indefinitely postponed,” states a telegram received by our Hauraki Plains resident representative from the Northern Steam Ship Co,. Ltd., yesterday.

The annual meeting of the O'hinemuri Club (incorporated) was. held in the club rooms on Tuesday evening last. The president, Mr J. L. Hanna, occupied the chair, and there was an attendance of about 30 members. The 'balance-sheet disclosed the ci.ub tp be in a ver ; y satisfactory position, and the committee received complimentary remarks, from members on its work and efforts on behalf of the club members. The report stated that during the year some 200 visitors to Paeroa, quite a number being from overseas, had been granted t!he privileges of the club. The officers for the ensuing year are : President, Mr W. J. Towers ; vice-president, Mr W. D. Nicholas; committee, Messrs E. W. Porritt, A. Steedman, J. L. Hanna, 'A. Gorrie, E. Edwards, and M. Harris; secretary, Mr E. A. Porritt,
At the County abattoir 59 cows, 23 steers and heifers, 182 . §|heep, 10 lambs, and 5 pigs were slaughtered during the month of October. The total amount of fees received were £43 19s 7d.
An interesting advertisement appears to-day in pur advertising columns, relating, to an anjpouncement that the “Economic” has changed hands, and is opening up with completely new stocks of all descriptions'.
At the County’s magazine during October 221 cases of explosives were issued and 50' received. The total fees received were £4 5s 2d.
The Hopai Tennis Club has decided to postpone its opening day flromi to-morrow to the following Saturday. The reason for doing so is to avoid clashing with Kerepeehi’s opening, and also on account o>f the weather retarding improvements tb the courts.
The Waihi Rugby Union’s annual smoke social in the Forester’s Hall on Saturday evening was well attended Mr R. Philpot presiding. Amongst the guests present were Messrs' J. W. Silcock (chairman), T. P. Vuglar, R. B. Pehlington, and J- H. Walmsley (secretary) of the Thames Valley Rugby Union), D. Saunders (president of the Waihi Rugby Union), and Dr. Short (vice-patron). Representatives of the different local sports institutions were also present. During the evening Mr Silcocki, with a few appropriate remarks, presented various trophies in connection with the success' achieved during the season by t,he players, as follows: J. Young (Katikati), for most improved senior forward ; Les. Morgan (Waihi), best junior representative; E. Keven (Waihi), best junior back rep.; C. Fugill (Waihi), most improved junior forward. The Waihi junior representatives were presented with the Sharebrokers’ Cup, which had been competed for by all junior representatives under tlie Thames Valley Union. It was mentioned that Waihi’s success' in the matter of the Sharebrokers’ Cup was the first since 1907. Messrs Stewart Walmsley and J. J. Callaghan were the recipients of life members;' badges. Mrs H. A. Keven, for her services in connection with the uniforms of representative players, was presented with a handsome rose bowl, the gift, of the executive officers of tiie union. Mr H. B. Dale presided at the piano, and songs and recitations went a long way towards the success and enjoyment of the evening.
