At a meeting of the Rangiora School Committee (states the Christchurch “Press") the headmaster reported that owing to so many children being allowed to attend socials and dances and other forms of amusement they were often not in a. fit state to take much interest in their work, and the teachers were considerably. handicapped by the listlessness' of these pupils. There were a number of children above the average age fcr their classes. They were not dull, but simply worn out>, and had not the energy to give attention to their school work. The chairman said the report made by the headmaster was justified, and he was very glad it had been brought before the committee. He felt very keenly the neglect and want of consideration shown by some parents for the education and the health of their Mildren. It was a shame the way children were allowed to go to these socials and entertainments at nght, when they should be at home.
