A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
COMMITTED MEETING. 'A meeting of the general committee of the above association was held in the County Chambers op Tuesday last. Mr W. F. Johnstone, president, occupied the chair, and presided over a good attendance of members, SHOW DATES. The secretary, Mr Edwin Edwards, reported that there was every probability pf the General Eflections being held on December 6 or 7> the date originally fixed for the show, and in view of the circumstances the committee decided to alter the dates, and the s'hpw would now be held on Wednesday and Thursday. December 13 and 14, this year. Mr F. A. Balcke wrote resigning from the general committee of the association, and it was' decided tha. his resignation be accepted with regret. QUESTION OF SALEYARDS. Considerable correspondence was received from Dalgety and Co- Ltd., with reference to. the lease of the saleyards. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Reidt Porritt, and the secretary reported that they had Literviewed the manager for Dalgety and Co,, and that firm had now agreed to carry on the .sales until the end of the present, year, when the position would be revised.? The sub-commit-tee's action in the matter was endorsed by the meeting. DONATIONS AND TROPHIES.
A letter was received from the N.ZJersey Breeders’ Association, in Pa*, mar st on North, stating that that body would subsidise 10s in the £ for every pound up tp a sum not exceeding £25 donated by the Thames Valley Jersey Breeders 1 Club to the association, and also that th’s offer would be the only allocation of prize-money to the.show. AH previous donations to the various classes would be. withdrawn . A letter from the secretary of the Auckland Country Racing Clubs’ Breeders’ Association advised that they were prepared to offer a casn prize of £25 which would be accompanied by the O’Rorke Memorial Cun, valued at £25. This cup would be held by the winner until October 1 following the date of the show at which it was won, and then was to be returned to the Breeders’ Association. On the cup being won twice in supcession or three times at intervals by the same exhibitor at whatever show it was competed for it would become the property of the winner. The cash prize and O’Rorke Memorial Cup to be only offered for the best yearling colt, gelding, or filly by Day Comet or Archiesfown. HOUSE COWS. There was considerable discussion as to what animals were eligible for this qlass; and it was decided that only bbna fide house cows would be eligible, and exhibitors must not be suppliers to a dairy factory. ' CHAMPION DAIRY COWS. It ; was decided that the Association get in touch withi Mr Dempster, of the Government Dairy Division, and that he be asked to act as' judge of all mixed dairy stock exhibited in the milch stock classes. AMATEUR JUDGING. In the amateur judging competitions this year it was resolved, that this only be open to competitors who have never won a first prize in an adult competition. SHOW CANVASSERS.
The following wpre allocated districts to canvass for trophies and hew members : Messrs P. R. Hubbard and T. P. Vuglar, Paeroa; W. F. Johnstone and E. Edwards, Thames'; G. Buchanan (through the N. Z. Dairy Co.), Auckland; J. A. Reid and HHare, Netherton; M. Crimmins and Patterson, Wa-ihi-Waikino. Messrs Byrne, Shaw, Beattie, and Findlay were apopinted 1 to act as “freelancers." • SCHEDULE COMMITTEE. The following were appointed to revise the schedule for the forthcoming show: The president and secretary, together with Messrs W. Marsh, B. E. Veale, E. P. Fathers., J. A. Reid, P. R. Hubbard, arid G. Buchanan. It was decided to hold the first meeting of this cbmmitte on Saturday "evening, 21st inst. The secretary" reported that an Auckland firm had approached him and asked 'that they be allowed the publishing and advertising rights for. the show schedule, offering to print same at the "Gazette” office, free of cost to the association. It was decided that the secretary get into communication with this firm immediately. SCHOOL PONIES. On tihe motion of Mr Findlay, seconded by Mr Marsh, it was resolved that it be a recommendation to the schedule committee to include a class for bona fide school ponies'this- year. ART UNION. The president introduced the matter of holding an art union in connection with the show.»Mr Buchanan offered to donate a pedigree Jersey bull calf, provided that at least 25 guineas was raised for the funds of the association. Mr Buchanan was thanked for his offer, and it was decided to arrange an art union, and the president and secretary were appointed to endeavour to obtain trophies in addition to ' the Jersey calf offered by Mr Buchanan. STEWARDS. ■ Show stewards for the various sections were appointed as follows': Cattle section: Messrs Findlay, Stembridge, Munro, J. Morrison, R. Stock, sent., Budd, Byrne, F. Hub bard, Buckley, and P. R. Hubbard, praught horses: Messrs A, Tattersail and K. Dean. Light horses: Messrs E. P. Fathers' and Ej ShawEntertainment: Messrs E. W. Porritt and J. A. Reid. Weight-guessing: Messrs V. Young, W. H. Wight, and R. Phillips. LIFE MEMBER. Mr Arch. White wrote thanking the association for appointing him a life member, and intimating that he would always follow ,the activities of the association in Paeroa, with keen Interest. , ,
