When playing hide-and<-seek many are the curious places into which children cram their Little bodies in order to evade the seeker. The pa”ents pf a little 'girl in Timaru received a violent shock a few days ago when, during a game of hide-and-seek, the little girl disappeared, and the assistance ofl the parents was called to help to find the missing one. A diligent search w,as being made when the mother heard the sound of faint scratching, which came from inside a tin trunk. On looking therein the child was found .in a state of collapse. almost suffocated. The little pne had got into the trunk, and in lerting the lid down the catch had caught in the lock, holding her a prisoner. The child had been in the trunk foi' over two hours before being released. Mr I. M. Robinson, of Hikutaia, was elected to the council of the Northern Athletic Upion at the annual meeting held at Te Aroha on Thursday, evening last.
