NEW SERVICE CAR.

PAEROA-NGATEA RUNAN ENTERPRISING FIRM. The firm, of Messrs Brenan and Co., Ltd., has. just landed a new and up todate service car for the PaerparHauraki Plains r.un, and judging by its smart and roomy appearance is one that will meet the present-day requirements very well. The chassis is a 6-cylinder Napier, 50-60 horsepower, and flitted throughout with the latest Napier improvements, which consist of dual ignition, electric lights throughout, 60-volt battery, self-start-er, cylinders cast in pairs, 132-inch wheel base, three speeds forward and one backward, and also a sprag which, when dropped into position, will bold the car on a hill without the assistance of br.akes. Wire wheels have been selected instead of the usual artillery wheels, it being considered that they give mucih more ease and comfort in r'ding, especially on rough roads which undoubtedly exist on this run. The back axle, instead of being sprung in the usual way with two springs, is provided with a third cross, spring, which alsb helps ithe riding qualities of the car. The Napier’s own patent shock absorber, is also attached. The body was specially made by Messrs Cousins and Aitken, of Auckland, and has accommodation for 12 passengers. The upholstering is done in the best of leather and the seats are extremely comfortable. The hood, which is high enough to give plenty of head room, is permanently fixed, and the curtains are so attached that they can be easily let down if required. An electric light is fitted to the centre of the hood roof, sp that when the car is in use at night the passengers will not be sitting in the dark. The doors are fitted on the lefthand side, thus allowing the righthand running board free for carrying luggage. A trial was made to Ngatea on Saturday, and the passengers w.e r e higlf.y pleased with, the comfort and running of this new service car. and ithe firm: is to be congratulated on its enterprise.'
