SCHOOL EXAMINATION. Mr Lambourne, Inspector of Schools, was in. Hikutaia on Monday, when he examined the pupils of the local school. DANCING CLASS. ! The weekly dancing class held in the ball, on Saturday night was a great success. The loud demand for their, continuance is strong evidence .of theif popularity. i SUCCESSFUL SOCIALS. Sp successfuF have been the socials organised by Mrs Alf.; Alley, as convener of a ladies’ committee constituted for the purpose, that more than sufficient, money has. been raised to defray the cost of installing electric light in the hall. : This illuminant is now available, and will prove a great boon to patrons. The concluding social of the series will take place on Thursday .night, when -a bumper house is anticipated, MILK SUPPLIERS’ MEETING. At a meeting of milk suppliers held at the Cheese Factory on Monday morning a communication from the head office was read stating that as a slump in butter mighK.be expected soon after Christmas the local factory should devote its energies to cheese-making. A' proposal to that effect was carried, the amendment— That operations should be continued as at present for a further month, pending receipt fnomi London of more definite news—being defeated. The local factory; instead of making cheese, does separating pnly, tihe cream being forwarded on to Paeroa, and the skim milk turned into casein; which is dispatched daily in fair quantity to Frankton. The attendance at the meeting was poor. WELCOME RAIN. As several farmers were beginning tp cry out after the succession of dry days we have lately enjoyed, a welcome rain came just, in tipie to stimulate tihe feed, which, .generally speaking, is still short. > . X SCHOOL MATTERS. Mr J. Farrell, architect tp i the Auckland Board of inspected the nejv school on Tuesday morning. Except for a very few minor, details Mr Farrell passed the job as completed and expressed himself well satisfied with the work. The Board’s schools and residences between Komata North and Puru ar® being painted and renovated generally. Mr Bert Makerel is in charge of the painting. MEASLES. Measles has again made-its appearance, the disease this time attacking children rather than adults. The type now prevalent is a very mild one.
