ENTERTAINMENTS.
CENTRAL THEATRE PICTURES TO-NIGHT. A DOUBLE-STAR PROGRAMME. An extraordinarily good programme has been secured for to-night; when two William Fox masterpieces will be presented. One of the attratetipns is a drama with an oriental colouring entitled “The Ruling Passion,” with William E. Shay and Claire Whitney in the leading rple. When a young apd ambitious newspaper reporter leaps intp the river and swims to a. multi-millionaire’s palatial yacht in search of "big business” facts, he is possessed of a persistence which is worthy of success and of the girl who figures in his romance. Edna Murphy is the girl and Johnnie Walker is the reporter in “ Elxtra! Extra ! ” the other Fox picture which is on the programme for to-.night. COMMUNITY SINGING. TUESDAY EVENING. The final Community Sing is to be held tor-morrow night, when His Worship the Mayor will preside. The " sings ’’ have become very popular, and it is anticipated that for the closing night the theatre will be taxed to its utmost. The collection which will be taken up is to be given to the Volunteer Fire Brigade, possibly the most worthy of the many institutions in pur midst. “Let’s’ all be there” and join heartily in the last “sing” of the seasap. CABARET DE DANSE. CENTRAL THEATRE, THURSDAYThe inaugural Cabaret de Danse as far as Paeroa is concerned is to be held on Thursday night, and the promoter, Mr N. S. Cassrels-, is making elaborate preparations for the even*. Everything is being prepared on an up-to-date and elaborate .scale, and everything points to a most successful and enjoyable evening. TJhose intending to take part in this novel evening are advised to book their tables, which may be done per phone 144 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. or 6 and 10 p.m. The price of a double-ticket is 15s, which includes supper. The dance programme is to be varied, but will include jazzing. The music is being supplied by Crickett’s Elite Jazz Band, of Morrinsville, which is well known for its excellent dance music. Special attention is being given to the preparation of the floor, and altogether a. most enjoyable evening can be looked forward to.
