WAIKINO NEWS.

(Own Correspondent.) BOWLING CLUB BALL. On Friday last the annual grand ball of the Waikino Bowling Club took place in the Victoria HallNever before has the hall been so beautifully decorated. Globes of electric lights in different colours were intermixed in the fernery and across the hall, and streamers of the colours of the club (blue and yellow) were hanging down Over the large globes. All gave good effect when lighted up. The function prpved a success, there being about 200 present. The floor was in splendid condition. The first dance took place soon after 8 p.m. to a waltz from Mr Turner’s orchestra in which all took part The M’s.C. were Messrs H. Hewitt and W. H. Quin, who fulfilled their duties to the satisfaction of all. Bowlers and friends were present from Waihi, Paeroa, Auckland, and Morrinsville, amongst them being Colonel S.S. Allen, the Reform candidate for Ohinemuri. A telegram was received from Mr Poland, M.P., regretting his being unable tp attend and wishing the club all success. About 10.45 o’clock the adjournment took place for supper, whicn was well catered for and enjoyed by all. The extras were playe dby Misses Quin, J. Shaw, and N. Harper. The dresses worn by the ladies were as follows :. Mesdames J. H. Banks, l.enna georgette; Bartlett, jade green and gold with black net; Byrne (Paeroa), saxe blue with, lace ; Dobson, white silk; H. Hewitt, black velvet; N. Harris, black silk; Jones, white crepe de chine ; Keatley, black crepe de chine and georgette; Lithgow, black crepe de chine; Truscott (Auckland), kingfisher blue ; Towers (Paeroa), pink satin and floral; Misses Brown, black ninon; Cummings (Waihi), white embroidered ninon; Delaney, white satin; N. Harper, black silk; Mac ken, ereajn georgette and silk lace ; Muir, pink georgette ; Milne, flame georgette and radium lace; B. Owen (Auckland), white georgette and la,ce ; Quin, black charmeuse silk; G. Rohan, pale green crepe de chine; L. Rohan, pale glue crepe de chine ; Sarney (Auckland), henna taffeta ; D. Smith, white silk ; Taylor, cream; Vercoe, pink satin and ninon ; M. Vercoe, green crepe de chine; Shanley, orange georgette. AU the arrangements of 1 the function were in the hands of the president of the club (Mr J. H. G. Banks) a,nd the secretary (Mr L. M. Murphy), and committee. Great credit is due to them for the able manner in which the function was carried thrbuglh.
