HAMILTON STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company reports as follows: At Hamilton on Tuesday, September 5, there was a better entry of sheep, but excepting dairy cattle, which were in strong supply, fewer cattle were yarded.. There was again a full yarding of pigs. Good competition followed the sheep throughout, fats especially realising good value. Best wethers made to 33s 6d; best ewes 25s 6d; forward wethers 24s 6d to 25s 6d ; forward ewes 15s to 18s 4d ; forward hoggets 19s Bd. No fat steers were penned, but fat cows were in strong demand, making from £6 Hs to £8 5s for heavy-weight, the latter figure being obtained for a pep of Southern bred P.A. cows in very prime condition. A line of forward steers off turnips not quitted at auction was afterwards disposed of at £4 15s, Empty cows were in fair demand, realising from 35s to £2 6s ; store cows from £1 5s to £1 12s 6d ; yearling and 18-month empty heifers were a little easier, making from £3 to £3 18s ; other classes of store cattle were only in small lots, apd sold at ruling rates. Good young dairy cows (Jersey) close to profit made up to £l6, others £6 to £B, culls £2 to £4 ; good 3-year Shorthorn heifers, well forward, £9 to £lO, medium quality £6 to £7 10s, small and backward £3 to £5. A good number of pigs again came forward and a further decline in the price of heavy pigs was noticeable, but porkers maintained the values of those reported last week. CLAUDELANDS STOCK SALE. At Claudelands Stock Sale on Thursday last we had a gopd entry and at the conclusion of the sale very little remained unsold with the exception of the dairy cows, for which there was not a strong inquiry. In sympathy with the fall in prices at other centres pigs did not sell readily under the hammer, although the majority were ultimately sold. There was good competition foi; fat and store cattle and sheep. We quote : Small fat ewes 20s 10d tp 21s; mixed, fat sheep 28s; store hoggets 19s 3d; light, fat steers £6 to £6 Ils ; heavy, prime, fat cows and heifers £5 15s to £8 5s for an extra good cow from Ruakura Farm; other fat cows £3 10s to £4 10s ; good store cows £1 10s to £2 4s, aged and poorer 17s tp 26s ; 2-year steers £3 Is ; yearling steers £1 19s to £2 5s ; yearling heifers, best, to £3 ss, others £1 9s to £2;
