ENTERTAINMENTS.
CENTRAL THEATRE PICTURES TO-NIGHT. DOUBLE STAR PROGRAMME. A double star programme is to be presented to-night. One attraction is “Whatever She Wants,” featuring Eileen Percy. The other is a Fox photoplay, “Strength of the Pines/’ in which William Russell has. scored such marked success. The merit of this play is beyond question, and its presentation is marked by scenic beauty and artistry of a high, order, not only by the star,, but by the entire company. WEDNESDAY NIGHT. “OVER THE HILL.” On Wednesday will be presented the William Fox picturisation of Will Carleton’s celebrated “farm ballad, ’ called “Over the Hill.” It tells a sto.” t y as old as life itself, and as new as the present moment. It is a story of mother love divine —of beautiful sacrifice suffered uncomplainingly, and finally rewarded. Tears there are, of course, but tears that are immediately followed by wholesome laughter. It fa’rly bulges with fun—the kind of fun.such, as the older ones have had in their youth and such, as the youthful are now having. It is the humour that results from the inconsequential things in the everyday life of a plain unpretentious family—the kind of humour that centres about a family of six lively children, a dog, a shiftless father, and a loving, forgiving mother. A special matinee is to be given fer school children at 3 o’clock.
