A special auction sale of drapery, clothing, jewellery, etc., is to be hiehl on Friday and Saturday next at Mr B. Stansfield’s auction mart. Petitions were recently circulating on the Hauraki Plains tp urge the Minister of Public Works to authorise the completion of roads to enable a mail service to be run between the Plains and Pokeno. Mir T. W. Rhodes M.P., advised that a petition signed by 98 Ngatea residents has reached him and he will give it every support. A solitary walk from Carterton on a hot Sunday morning was the fate of a Masterton taxi driver, whose car was stolen on Saturday evening. He left it in the street, but on his return found it had disappeared. He tramped .home on foot, searching the roadway for his property, but without success.
