WAIKATO MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., reports • Beet—Values have not maintained the advance made a few weeks ago. The yardings everywhere are fairly good. It seems highly probable, however, that in a short time firmer markets will prevail. Mutton— Supplies are exceedingly scarce, and everywhere good compete tion is witnessed- It seems to predict a continued (hardening of prices. . • . Store Cattle..—For steers of all classes the market is steady, good inquiry existing for young steers especially, but these are difficult to obtain in .any quantity. Grown steers in forward condition are also in good demand, but stores of the same age have not advanced correspondingly. Heifers are, generally speaking, weak, atlhough some good sales have been negotiated. Forward conditioned cows are also in fair demand, but supply is limited. Store Sheep.—Very few lines are pppearing on the market, and little business is reported.. Hoggets have been anything but plentiful, and certainly anything but good quality. Good competition offers for all classes. Dairy Cattle.—There seems to be a better demand for dairy cows, and a good deal of business has been transacted in this class recently. There are still buyers prepared to purchase whole herds at a reasonable rate, also good lines of forward heifers. The mediocre or low quality beast is, however, not desired, and these are still selling cheaply. Pigs—Supplies are still very short, with values firm and inclined to advance. Store pigs are selling well in all centres. Horses. —Breeders .and vendors generally look 'forward with confidence to the approaching spring fairs. There certainly is every indication of a firm market.
