SOCIAL AT HIKUTAIA.
A social. and euchre tournament was held in the Hikutaia Hall last. Thursday night. Although the weather was so unsettled quite a number journeyed from everywhere, amongst them some of Paeroa’s noted euchre players, Mesdames Rplton, Pascoe, RaffiH, J. White, and R. Bramley. The winners of the euchre prizes were: Mrs A. W. Alley (the bag of coal presented by Mrs Corbett) and Mr I. Royal (a safety razor, presented by Mr D. Brown, manager of the Farmers’ Union Trading Co., Paeroa). The winners of the consolation or "booby” prizes were Mrs Elliot and Master Ingham (%lb tin of cocoa each, presented by Mr A- Alley). The supper was supplied by the local baker, and was all that could' be desired, the tea being lovely and hot. As one cf the Paeroa ladies remarked, “the ladies of Hikutaia know 1 how to make a good cup of tea.” Mr B. McSweeney made an excellent master pf ceremonies.
