NGATEA’S NEEDS.
LACK OF SPORTS GROUNM At the tennis’meeting held at Ngatea on Thursday Mr W. G. Hayward mentioned that Ngatea had no recreation ground and suggested that a meeting of settlers be called to agitate for the acquisition of an area for a sports ground. During the discussion it was mentioned that the proposed area could include football fields and tennis courts, provision also being made for the inclusion, later on, of bowling greens and croque't lawns, though it may be some time before the lastmentionecl areas would be required. It was decided to approach, the local branch; of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union and urge that an endeavour bG made to ascertain ways and meaps of- procuring an area for the purposes of recreation. It was also decided to ask the ideal football club and the mutual improvement society to make representations to the Farmers’ Union branch. . The Rev. Hemmings and Mr Jamieson were deputed to wait on the bodies mentioned.
