The travelling public who use the railway on the Waihi-Paeroa section will be pleased to learn that as a result of the Waihi delegates’ recent visit to Wellington and their interview with Mr MCVilly, general manager of the New Zealand Railways, the stuffy tour compartment carriages at present in use are to be taken off and replaced by comfortable com ■ posite carriages. The Mayor received a communication from the geperal manager this morning (says Tuesday’s Daily Telegraph) advising him that the change of cars would take place forthwith. The discomfort of the small carriage has been a source of annoyance to a sectiop of the travelling public for a considerable period, and the efforts of the Waihi Borough Council to get the Department to effect the improvement |iad, until i.ow, been unavailing.
