PLAINS TENNIS CLUBS.

LAIDLAW CUP PRESENTATION. A BALL ARRANGED. A meeting of the Ngatea Hall Committee was held on Wednesday evening to consider a proposal to conduct a ball on behalf of the tennis clubs of the Hauraki Plains on as early a date as possible., when, opportunity could be taken to present the Laidlaw Cup to last season’s winners (Turua). A letter from the Turua club, )h behalf of the tennis clubs on the Hauraki Plains, asked if the Ngatea Hall Committee would arrange a tennis ball, at which could be presented tne Laidlaw Cup, which was competed for last season for the first time. Ngatea w.as so centrally situated that it would be the most suitable place. ' The Hopai tennis club wrote putting a similar proposition before the committee. The representatives of the various tennis clubs, the letter suggested, migh.t appear in their tennis apparel and possibly in their club’s colours.

The committee favourably considered the proposition, and the secretary was instructed to .advise the various tennis clubs that the committee would undertake all .arrangements The date was fixed for Tuesday, September 5. The secretary was deputed to arrange for a ladies’ committee and Mr S. Phillips was . asked to form a committee of young men.
