GOLF CLUB BALL.
A BRIGHT FUNCTION. On Friday night last the Central Theatre was the scene of a gay and joyous scene when a ball committee arranged a particularly successful ball in connection with the Paeroa Golf Club. The hall looked a veritable fairy bower, and the scheme of decoration displayed exquisite taste. A forest of gaily coloured streamers hung from every nook and corner. From the middle of the ceiling was suspended a huge coloured bell. Golden wattle and beautiful foliage were used extensively in the decorations. The different coloured streamers created a beautiful effect, and the scene was a brilliant one. The joyous illusion was helped by the gay frocks of the ladies in contrast with the conventional black and white of the men. Parties of visitors came from Thames, Te Aroha, and the Plains, and the ball proved a very jolly function. The main hall .was reserved for the dancing and the adjoinirg room was utilised for the claret cup and the supper. The arrangements were admirable, and reflect . credit on the promoters. The supper tables were laden with delectable dainties of every description, and early spring flowers made the room bright. At intervals the lights were lowered, casting a glamour over the gay scene.
Everybody was reluctant to depart from the happy rendezvous, and many hearty congratulations were extended to the hostesses on the success of the well arranged function. Much credit is reflected on the Ball Committee, headed by Miss L. Thorp and Mr I. J. Towers, the honorary secretaries. The M’s.U. for the evening were Messrs S. J. Bishop and E. A. Porritt.
