A claim for £B, being the value of a stockinette dress, was brought by a typist, Ethel Hopkins (Mr R. G. Scott), against George Nottingham, a dyer end cleaner (Mr J. F. W. Dickson), before Mr J. E.. Wilson, in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland on Monday. It was alleged by the plaintiff that she took a dr,ess to the defendant to be cleaned, and that he guaranteed that it would not shrink and that the colours would not run. brought, one witness stating that such light material had a tendency to stretch, while evidence on behalf of the other side showed that it would shrink. Defendant stated that as the dress was not in a clean condition when handed to him the job done was a reasonable one. The magistrate, however, held that the job was not a reasonable one, and gave judgment for the plaintiff for ...6 and ebsts.
