The Farmers’ Co-operative Auction-

coring Co., Ltd., reports :—

At Hamilton on Tuesday, July 25, we. bad an average yarding of cattle and sheep, but the supply of pigs was again small. Beef. w;as plentiful, ami sold at. better value than the previous week, steers making from £5 Is to £6 2s ; cows, heavy, to £5 14s, medium from £3 2s 6d to £4 ; forward cows £2 to £2 7s 6cl; store cows 25s to 295. Store cattle were not strongly representer in any class, but competition throughout was brisk and everything sold at advanced rates under the hammer. Jersey cross yearling heifers made £4 ss, Holsteins, same age, £3 10s; small Shorthorn heifers £2. Sheep of all classes were well competed for and practically everything changed hands at auction. The entry for fat sheep was fairly large. Wethers, medium made from 25s 6d to 27s ; ewes from 23s to 25s 6d ; hoggets from 17s 6d. to 17s Hd ; for. War l ewes 18s 9d. A line of ewes in lamb to B.F. and Leicester rams was subniittc;; but did not reach owner’s reserve at auction. A portion of the lino was l afterwards disposed of at 255. Dairy cows were a prominent featir-e, but the quality was mediocre. Those close to profit made £8 to £ll ss, For medium quality £5 10s to £7 l()s ; backward and poor £2 to £3 15s ; 2-yeai Shorthorn heifers, September calvers, up to £6, small and backwaru £3 to £4. A fair number of pigs were yarded, and sold readily. The prices all round were well in advance of last week, heavy porkers to light bar-oners bringing from £2 12s to £3 Is, medium porkers £2 4s to £2 10s light and small 28s to 39s ; slips 23s to 28s, weaners ,17s to 225.
