VETERINARY SERVICE.
ORGANISING A CLUB. MEETING AT PATETONGA; A further meeting, held in the interests of the Farmers’ Veterinai v Club, which proposed to cater for the western portion o>f the Hauraki Plains, was held at Patetpnga on Tuesday. There were present Messrs A. J. Andrews (chairman), R. Burke, and E. T. Miles of the club’s committee, and Mr. J. Costello. Mr. S. Appleby w r as elected to the chair . The attendance was small;. Mr. Andrews addressed the meeting on similar lines as lie did recently at Waitakaruru and Ngatea, and was congratulated on the concise and sound arguments put forward in favour of the club.
Mr. D. J. Rogers (chairman of the local ratepayers’ association) apologised for the small .attendance, saying that possibly the notice was too short, to acquaint everyone of. the meeting. Messrs J. Patterson and J. F- Mayn expressed their sympathies for the movement. Mr. Rogers w,as. also sympathetic, and said he would not like to be omitted from the membership when the club was properly going. When the club was thoroughly organised he thought that Patetonga would be well represented. The general opinion appeared to tie one o”. sympathy towards the organisation’, but those present had evidently not made up their minds whether it would be advisable for them to join the club or not. It was thought that Kaihere should be the centre for the veterinarian if Patetonga was to be included in the boundaries. No definite decision was arrived at, and the meeting closed with votes of thanks to the. members of the Ngatea committee who were present ar.d to the chair.
